This kit was kindly provided by HobbyCo and is my 19th build for 2022!
This was a pretty simple build I was able to paint and assemble this in just 3 days. The kit uses the C-clip design that Bandai seems to be going with in the entire Witch from Mecury line, and as such there were no seam lines to fix though there are some rather big mould lines, especially on the cuffs and bicep armour.
The only downsides to this kit I feel are the fixed ankle, there’s no real forward and back bend and the only point of articulation is at the toes. The elbows are only single-jointed so you can’t quite get the full 90 degrees rotation on the arm.
Other than that, it’s a pretty great looking grunt suit that’s could be a great base for a Scopedog.
Painting
I was considering other colour schemes at first, such as doing a Red Shoulder Scopedog or actually painting it to look like Chu Chu (pink/purple etc), but I wanted to challenge myself and try paint that off yellow colour.
Light yellow – White primer, Sail color + Khaki Green + Yellow
Light tan – White primer, Sail color + bit of Yellow preshade. I used Mr Color GX Cool White, mixed in the base color and used that to highlight
Dark Grey – Neutral Grey + Khaki Green + Hull Red
Dark Grey (Weapon) – Mr Color Phantom Grey (80%) + Black (20%), followed by Mr Color Phantom Grey for highlight
Metallic – Mr Color GX Ueno Black base coat, followed by light coat of Alclad Steel
